A must have if you want to run RedBaron3d with separate stick and pedals in linux/wine. RedBaron3d is
too old to support multiple devices (a stick , throttles and pedals, typically), it only supports 1 device
and it *has to be* device #0 on top of that. (if your stick doesn't work: pull all, plug-in the one you want first..)
in windows, there is no software that can do this (ppjoy only works in XP and before.. ) ... vjoy supposedly could do this
but no-one wrote the feeder software for it...



Trouble getting RedBaron3d to run ?  here is the solution. on Windows or on Linux. Easy, tested, works.

 Red Baron 3D.... is (imo) still one of the best flight simulator games ever produced. With the mods applied, it still looks very good.
The game play is it's strong point.
You can enjoy "just a quick one", or your own constructed missions, or auto-generated with or without historical "correct" squadrons and events, or even historical campaigns where you are taking part......
Your choice to spend a little, or a lot of time. It is always fun, which ever choice you make.

Red Baron also features Single Player with missions
in a World War I setting, with tens of planes and action going on.
Missions, campaigns, careers if you want...
The special thing : you can fly a mission over and over again. It will
never ever  be the same. Every time, your and the game's AI decisions
result in a different outcome.



Trouble getting RedBaron3d to run ?  here is the solution. Easy, tested, works.
Both Linux and Windows
A ready to unpack and run RedBaron3d on Windows 10 zip (Red Baron only)
tested on Windows10 (works on lower version too, starting from win95 .....)  : download it here
How-to :
unzip to your drive. (c:\ or anywere you want) Note: RedBaron does NOT change anything to your windows system.
- Set compatibility to Windows XP (servicepack 3) for
  • baronMMP.exe
  • baron.exe
  • rssplyr.exe  (= the patch manager, you will want to use this, in the end.
and you are ready to go.

When you see this,   6 clicks on top right cross ...

You will need the CD of course. ( unless you know which icon to click 6 times... )

Glide / 3DFX tested on nvidia and intel HD graphics, works. Nglide v2.x 3dfx emulation installer is included, you must install it yourself in wine. Others are in the download, if needed.

- WFP MMP skins (western front patch for SP : skins ported to MMP, very nice looking)

- if your video card supports it (requires openGL) :  Voodoo Graphics (3DFX) emulations for much better graphics
- a set of voodoo emulators for you to try out. (basically the emulator is a a single file, glide2x.dll, which goes in the same directory as baron*.exe )



On Linux:
you can run the windows 10 install , download is here, to play redbaron3d (on wine/linux and/or
games on steam (native linux)

put the downloaded zip file  in ~/.wine/drive_c.
click on it ( this should load ark) and choose "extract here". results in the normal \sierra\redbaron3d folder structure

you can then run the game by ~/.wine/drive_c/Sierra/Redbaron3D/Baron.exe (or baronmmp.exe)

However:

use something like crossover (pay for software, but saves a lot of headache)
or playforlinux ( most Linuxes have this )
and run it from the Linux desktop..

CAUTION:
These are *static* IP addresses / DNS names. If the server operator changes IP, or portnumber,
they will become useless. NOT recommended for general use, meta's are much more reliable because they
have the information directly from the game servers themselves when they are still running.

If you anyway want static IP's, try RSSplayer (available on downloads page of this site).
As far as I know the only software that enables you to add current running servers to your mplayer.ini.
it knows cloud-kit.nl, any other meta's address you have to provide yourself.

RSSplayer has a much more usefull function: managing your filepatches in a simple way.
activate them / deactivate them with a simple click.  check it out here
